NEW YORK, NY, March 26, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Steven J. Pearlman, MD, has been honored as a 2025 Castle Connolly Top Doctor, the 24th year he has earned the prestigious Top Doctor designation! Only about 7 percent of the nation's licensed physicians are selected annually as Castle Connolly Top Doctors in their regions for their specialties.
An internationally recognized facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Pearlman is the founder and director of Pearlman Aesthetic Surgery in Manhattan.
Dr. Pearlman is certified by both the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
He has special expertise and decades of experience performing a range of highly technical, advanced plastic surgery procedures — most of them minimally or non-invasive.
These include rhinoplasty ("nose job"), revision rhinoplasty ("re-do" surgery), and facelift procedures, as well as brow lifts, chin augmentation, otoplasty (ear reshaping), eyelid surgery/blepharoplasty, lip lifts, neck lifts, and more.
Dr. Pearlman stays abreast of current innovations in facial plastic surgery by regularly attending — as well as presenting and teaching at — conferences around the world, as well as voraciously reading the latest medical journals.
By constantly updating his skills, he can offer the latest approaches and procedures, such as rhinosculpting, also known as ultrasonic rhinoplasty or minimal rhinoplasty. The approach uses piezoelectric ultrasonic instruments to reshape a nose without breaking bones.
"We want to achieve the ideal shape and position for our patients, and we can offer the most appropriate approach for them," he says.
Dr. Pearlman uses state-of-the-art computer imaging for many people who see him for facial plastic-surgery consultations.
"Having used imaging in this way for more than three decades, I've found it's the best way to communicate potential surgical results with people, to manage their expectations, and to make sure we're on the same page in terms of realistic goals," he says.
"Today's computer imaging capabilities make imaging a great tool for discussing procedures with prospective patients, for showing them what we can do, and for showing them whether what they want is realistic or desirable."
It's not about promising a particular outcome, he adds, "it's about showing prospective patients what I believe we can accomplish. And with imaging, I can achieve exactly what I think I can."
For rhinoplasty consultations, for instance, Dr. Pearlman performs 2-D and 3-D imaging for people interested in primary rhinoplasty and 2-D imaging for those seeking revision rhinoplasty.
"We also take nine photos of the person's face from different angles, and I'll image them from at least five of those angles. We then look at the nose together, I show them what I see, what I like, and what I don't like," he says.
"As we discuss what they want to change, I'll morph the nose in the images until we agree on what we want and have the same goals for surgery."
Another clinical factor that distinguishes Dr. Pearlman is his training in otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat, or "ENT") - head and neck surgery.
"I treat the nose inside and out — I respect function and aim to maintain structure," Dr. Pearlman says. "To do that I have to understand more than just plastic surgery."
Dr. Pearlman is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a past president of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
In addition to his clinical and research activities and professional engagements, Dr. Pearlman serves as a clinical professor of otolaryngology - head and neck surgery at Columbia University's Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Top Doctors are nominated by peer physicians and selected by the physician-led Castle Connolly research team.
"Being chosen by my peers as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor is an honor," Dr. Pearlman says. "It's a gold standard award."
Dr. Pearlman earned his medical degree at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He completed a four-year otolaryngology residency at The Mount Sinai Hospital and a fellowship in facial plastic surgery at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital.
Dr. Pearlman is affiliated with Lenox Hill Hospital and Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital - Northwell Health.
He speaks English and Spanish.
